About us

Our Story: A Legacy of Compassion

The Northeast Oregon Compassion Center began as a vision to serve the vulnerable and disenfranchised in our community. In November 2000, we opened our doors with a simple goal: to provide compassionate care and practical support to those in need.

What started as a small operation offering one-on-one or small group care sessions and food has grown into a comprehensive center that touches the lives of countless individuals across Baker County.

From the beginning, our focus has been on addressing the root causes of hardship—whether it’s financial strain, emotional turmoil, or harmful addiction. We recognized that the significant problems facing our community couldn’t be solved by treating symptoms alone; we needed to dig deeper, to plant the seeds of change that would yield a harvest of hope and transformation.

Our approach

Our Mission
Opening Doors So Christ Can Change Lives

Over the years, the Northeast Oregon Compassion Center has expanded on our mission. We believe that every person deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to thrive. While we cannot be all things to all people, we affirm that we should use every gift we receive to minister to others as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. By investing in our community, we seek to create lasting change that goes beyond immediate needs. We strive to meet people where they are and walk with them on their journey to a better future.

Our programs are designed to be holistic, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our clients. Whether through our food bank, counseling services, or community projects, we are committed to being a beacon of light for any and every time of darkness.

Our Vision
A Brighter Tomorrow

Looking ahead, NOCC is committed to expanding our services and deepening our impact in the community. As the needs of Northeast Oregon grow, we aim to continue building strong partnerships with local churches, organizations, and supporters. By developing a network of services that matches clients with the resources they need, we believe we can create a brighter tomorrow for everyone.

Our work is funded by private donations, grants, fundraising events, and the faithful support of our community. We are continually grateful for the generosity that enables us to keep our doors open and our services running. Without community support, the Northeast Oregon Compassion Center would not be possible.

Our Team: Qualified and Committed

Our team of credentialed counselors and certified service providers is at the heart of everything we do. Each member of our staff brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and, most importantly, a strong personal commitment to serving others. We believe in the power of professional care combined with compassionate service, and our team embodies this belief in every interaction.

We are blessed to have a dedicated group of volunteers who work tirelessly alongside our staff to carry out our mission. Their contributions are invaluable, and together we are able to reach more people and make a greater impact.
